New Book on the Way From Gordon Kirkland.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Canadian author, columnist and entertainer Gordon Kirkland announced today that his next book, "When My Mind Wanders It Brings Back Souvenirs," will be released by U.S. publisher AuthorHouse in the spring of 2005.

With over 25,000 books in print, AuthorHouse is the largest print-on- demand book publisher in the world. While the company provides self- publishing and marketing services to individual authors, the deal made with Kirkland more closely resembles a traditional author/publisher relationship.

Kirkland and AuthorHouse Promotional Services Manager R. Michael Johnson were recently featured at the same writers' conference in Park City, Utah. Johnson offered Kirkland a complete publishing deal to bring him into the AuthorHouse family.

"With Gordon's unique sense of humor and his hilarious style of writing, we were positively elated at the possibility to partner with such an outstanding author," said Johnson.

Kirkland joins other celebrity authors such as comediennes Rita Rudner ("Naked Beneath My Clothes") and Fran Capo ("Almost A Wise Guy"). The late Buddy Ebsen (Jed Klampett on the Beverly Hillbillies) was also an author with AuthorHouse(TM) ("Kelly's Quest").

"I'm looking forward to working with AuthorHouse," said Kirkland. "We've spoken on a couple of occasions, and finally sat down for some serious negotiations when we were together in Park City. Having the power of their marketing program behind my book will make a huge impact on sales."

"For anyone in this field, getting the break in the U.S. market is a prerequisite for future success," he added. "It can be tough being a Canadian writer. Even a lot of Canadian booksellers want to see that you've been accepted in the United States before getting fully behind your book. It's especially true in comedy. Look at all the Canadians like Mike Myers and John Candy who needed to make it there before being fully accepted here."

Kirkland, whose first book, 1999's "Justice Is Blind - And Her Dog Just Peed In My Cornflakes," won Canada's Stephen Leacock Award of Merit for Humour, has been touring extensively for most of 2004 in support of his latest book, "Never Stand Behind A Loaded Horse." His first live comedy CD, "I'm Big For My Age," will be released later this year, as will a live audiobook version of "Never Stand Behind A Loaded Horse." He is also a frequent guest on radio and television programs in both Canada and the United States.
