`High' fashion rekindles memories of her first heels

Recently I entered a fashion time warp, thanks to the editors ofVogue magazine.

There I was, 6 years old, tottering around my basement in myvery first pair of high heels - and I mean "high" heels. They hadgold elastic straps across the instep and hoisted me a good 4 inchesoff the ground.

I thought I looked like the glamorous Endora of "Bewitched" famewho threw elegant parties attended by everyone from Joan of Arc toMarie Antoinette. She wore some of the most interesting shoes:glittering sandals and golden slippers. I guess when you're a witchyou can simply whip up whatever shoe you want in just your size.
