COLONIE -- A pedestrian shot and killed over the weekend by a deputy who confronted him near the airport was identified as a Mexican national who was in this country illegally, Sheriff James Campbell said Monday.
Marcos DeJesus Alvarez, 36, was living in an apartment on Central Avenue in Albany with other illegal immigrants, including his brother-in-law, and sending money home to his wife, Augustina Cruz Garcia, and their five children from his job at a property management company in Schenectady, officials said.
Garcia was told over the phone Sunday that her husband had been killed.
